PHP1.6M worth of ‘shabu’ seized in northern Negros city

About PHP1.6 million worth of suspected “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride was confiscated by police operatives in a buy-bust at Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Monday afternoon.

Superintendent Arturo Fullero, chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said in a spot report obtained Tuesday that suspect Corsiden Pangkatan Abie alias Jamil was arrested during the operation.

Abie, 43, a native of Lanao del Sur, has been residing at V. Gustilo Street, Barangay 5, San Carlos City at the time of his arrest. The suspect, who is detained at the station, is considered by the police as a newly-identified street level target.

Fullero said they seized from Abie about 160 grams of suspected “shabu” placed in two big plastic sachets with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of PHP1.6 million.

He was arrested while on board a tricycle after selling “shabu” to a police agent for PHP1,200.

Also found in the suspects’ possession were a small sachet of “shabu” and the PHP1,200 marked money.

Fullero said Abie will be charged for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
