Construction worker dies from electrocution in Albay

A construction worker suffered a grisly death after being electrocuted while working on a covered court that caused decapitation while his mangled body dangled on an adjoining fence in Daraga, Albay early morning on Saturday.

Supt. Elcid Roldan, police chief of Daraga Municipal Police Office, said the victim, Glen Joy Buella, 22, was going up the trusses of the covered court being constructed when his neck got entangled in a primary power line of the Albay Power Electric Corp. around 8:00 a.m. in Barangay Salvacion, Daraga.

“Electric shock due to the huge power voltage of the power line ruptured Buella’s neck and severed his head before he landed on the fence beside the covered court,” said Eclid.

He said Buella’s co-workers were so stunned by the accident they were unable to immediately retrieve his body.

The village officials reported the incident to the police and assisted in recovering Buella’s body.

Investigators said Buella was single and a resident of Barangay Putiao in Pilar, Sorsogon.
