OWWA-02 releases cash assistance to typhoon-affected OFW member dependents
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region Office 02 (OWWA-02) has started releasing cash assistance to victims of super typhoon "Lawin" who are dependents of active Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.
OWWA-02 Regional Director Robert Bassig on Wednesday said that their office is now receiving application forms.
"If some of the applicants will be disqualified, we will accept new ones," he said.
Bassig clarified that the assistance being given by OWWA is in the form of grant which is different from the assistance they gave to the typhoon victims, which was in the form of loan.
The applicants are required to submit a certification from authorized official or the Local Government Unit-office of the mayor, barangay captain or Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD); proof of OWWA membership; and proof of relationship, if applicant is a dependent of OFW-member.
He said that they will also check the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) reports on whether or not the applicants came from the typhoon-affected barangays.
The evaluation of the applicants is now ongoing, he added. (PNA) ZST/SCD
