Bowler Tabora in World Cup qualifier in Mexico



SEA Games medalist Krizziah Lyn Tabora tallied 2,587 pinfalls after 12 games in the qualifying rounds of the 2017 Quibica AMF Bowling World Cup at the Bol 300 lanes in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

According to the results posted on the tournament website on Wednesday, the 26-year-old Tabora is currently ranked No. 6 among 54 entries in the women's division.

Swedish Jenny Wegner is No. 1 followed by German Vanessa Timter, Columbian Rocio Restrepo, American Erin McCarthy and Mexican Maribel Orozco.

Tabora, a member of the team which won the bronze in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur and 2015 Singapore SEA Games, scored 202, 236, 235, 205, 222, 264, 203, 190, 224, 212, 190 and 204 pinfalls.

Wegner, a kindergarten teacher, was the best performer with a total of 2,763 pinfalls after rolling games of 192, 300, 224, 227, 248, 254, 223, 217, 229, 243, 214 and 192.

Timter rolled games of 230, 236, 225, 184, 277, 237, 205, 196, 213, 265, 213, 225 to finish third with a total of 2,706 pinfalls.

Restrepo scored 2,641 pinfalls for fourth place while McCarthy was fifth with 2,617 pinfalls.

Australian Rebecca Whiting tallied 2,583 for sixth place followed by Malaysian Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman (2,534), Dutch Ghislane Stiger Van der Tol (2,494) and El Salvador's Edith Quintilla (2469).

The bowlers will play 12 more games to determine the Top 24 qualifiers who will advance to the second stage.

In the men's division, Mexican Arturo Estrada had a 12-game total of 2,682 pinfalls to take the lead among 64 entries.

Colombian Oscar Rodriguez was second with 2,639 while Finnish Niko Oksanen tallied 2,606 to settle for third place.

American Jakob Butturff was fourth with 2,604 followed by Italian NIcola Pongolini (2,589), Catalonian Luis Montfort (2,583), Hong Kong's Siu Hong Wu (2,575), Malaysian Ahmad Muaz Mohd Fishol (2,567), Swedish James Gruffman (2,566) and British Ray Teece (2,560).
