Laguna police forms task force to probe cop killing

The Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) has organized a Task Force to probe the slaying of a police officer here on Wednesday.

Police Senior Inspector Gerry Sangalang, chief of the provincial police public information office, disclosed on Thursday that Laguna police provincial director, Senior Superintendent Cecilio Ison Jr., immediately ordered the creation of the Task Force and the tracker team.

Sangalang said the tracker team is ordered to identify, track down and apprehend the assailants of Senior Police Officer II (SPO2) Ricardo Pagua Infante who was assigned at the Biñan City Police Station.

Infante was shot dead by a gunman Wednesday morning as he was boarding his motorcycle while on his way home to Tulay Bato Ibaba in San Antonio Village, this city.

The CCTV footage of the incident showed the assailant was wearing shorts, a white bull cap, his face covered by a handkerchief and holding a small sack.

The footage showed the suspect got the gun from the sack upon seeing Infante boarding his motorcycle. The gunman approached and shot the cop on the head.

The gunman seized the service firearm of the victim and joined a motorcycle-riding accomplice and fled towards Santa Rosa City.

Superintendent Elpidio Ramirez, Biñan City chief of police, said Infante had received death threats in the past and they are still determining if the killing is work-related.
